Julia Wong fell akwardly in her tie against Yip Pui Yin of Hong Kong. Julia was leading 17-16 in the first set but couldn’t complete the match due to the injuriy.

It is confirmed that Julia is suffering from ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) which is a serious knee injury where football players used to have it.

It is very sad but injury is part and parcel of a competitive sport like badminton. We wish Julia Wong speedy recovery and hope to see her back in action soon.

  • She was leading Yip Pui Yin 18-17 when this happened, it was a bad fall so bad that even Yip came to her help. She will be out for at least 6 weeks. She will try not to think about the World Championship in 8 weeks’ time at the moment. But best of luck and get well soon, Julia. You did your best.
