  • heys, do you know why China’s players have different sponsors now? Not yonex anymore. Any news about that?

  • stanley 8 years ago

ya the Chinese sponsors are li ning or something like that

  • George 8 years ago

They signed a contract with Li Ning (a Chinese brand) to be the new sponsor, players said Li Ning can provide them with service tailored to their personal needs which apparently they can’t get from any other vendors.

They are now sponsored by the chinese sports company Li Ning.

  • It’s abvious that this is part of the “domestic consumption stimulation package” of the Chinese government. But it’s not a bad thing, because of the competition from Li Ning, Yonex might be forced to reduce their price tag : P

  • Li ning bought out another Chinese racket company Kason. And someone i know who is in the racket selling business has infromed me that his sources tell him that those Li Ning rackets the Chinese team uses are really Yonex rackets underneath that Li Ning paint job. He also says that though they are Yonex rackets they are not the ones you can buy in the store..meaning, that many of the top badminton players in the world lke lin dan, gade, lee chong wei use “custom ” rackets that are reinforced and to their own specs. That’s not surprising given that many of these players string their rackets at such a high tenson, eg 35 lbs. Not many rackets if any can take that tension during or even shorty after strining. So my friend says the armotec racket your shelling out all that money for isnt neccesarily what the pros use. He also says that tennsi players like federer and nadal also all have custom rackets.

  • Jason, this is filed under Lee Chong Wei but its Lin Dan playing.

Just something I noticed, no big deal.

    Who’s the commentator alongside Gill?

Good observation. Sometimes, “custom made” is not what it seems. Take a BMW custom made for example, the alloy wheels are different, the windows and windscreen may be bullet proof but essential, its the same BMW 90% or more as the ones you buy. International trading laws say you can copy at the most 60 to 70 % of another model. However, one chinese made car has been taken to International Court for copying 80% of the model of another car.

Yonnex rackets painted with Li Ning’s company colours, in China, anything is possible.

  • Why is this filed under Lee Chong Wei? It is Lin Dan vs Park Sung Hwan.
