Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong could resign from the national team if the BA of Malaysia (BAM) decides to split them.
Their future will be deliberated by BAM’s coaching and training committee (C&T) on Saturday.

It is learnt that BAM wants to split Kien Keat and Boon Heong following a series of average results despite the pair showing slight progress of late.

Doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang, who coaches Kien Keat-Boon Heong, wants the World No 7 to remain as a pair as others in the national team have stagnated.

There is already a proposal to have Kien Keat and Boon Heong pair up with younger partners only for small tournaments while giving them a grace period of 12 months to compete at next year’s World Championships.

BAM, if it carries on with its plans, will split Boon Heong and Kien Keat with Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah, respectively.

But Kien Keat and Boon Heong could leave the national team for a local club, who are keen to secure them, if BAM maintains its decision.

From my point of view, we shouldn’t waste time on this pairing anymore. It’s better for them to leave BAM and then prove to the world of badminton what they are made of if they are sincere in being world beaters again. Although my statement sounds harsh but drastic action need to be taken for this pair as they have been displaying many very poor performances. It is not heart breaking if they try and fight hard. It is the way they loose easily without putting a good fight. That really hurt the fans. Just my 2 cents. Comments appreciated.

  • This pair does not have what it takes to compete in International tournaments. However, they should HELP and LET the younger generation to.

@KM: I think they have what it takes to be a champion but they dont have the right attitude towards their duty. That is the sad part.

BAM is stupid! they shouldnt split them! they must train them well, don blame everything on kkk-tbh, part of the problem is also in BAM! Instead of training them properly, BAM want split! If they put with younger players, they will be worst! worser!

its not about splitting partners that are used to each other,,, its about training them and unleashing what they really takes to be a duo partner,, i think that’s what it counts most

  • it is good to see them again coming up 5 years ago

it is nice to see them

  • I love to see them in All England Final 2007. I’ve download a lot of their games but AE 2007 is my favourite. Their style of play are different now (2009-now). They love to use their stupid defense.
