Olympic champions Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan took on home favorites Mathias Boe & Carsten Mogensen in the Copenhagen Masters 2009 men doubles badminton match.

The Indonesian pairing just returned from injury and their fitness with be a big suspect. Meanwhile the Danish pair has been performing hot and cold of late. Matches where the Danish are expected to win and they didn’t while they did the opposite when they were not suppose to win.

I guess this is one of the matches of the Copenhagen Masters 2009 has been waiting. Hope we will not be disappointed with their performances in court.

Anyway who’s your favorite pair between the two of them? I still prefer Kido & Setiawan instead of the Danish pair because they are more cool and skillful in court. What say you?

    3 things:

    1) Markis Kido isn't at his best, seems still recovering from his injury and slowly getting back.
    2) The Danes seems they got that service judge in their back pocket to help in the crucial moments.
    3) Boe still an idiot with his delay of serve tactics.

It got them the win, but still lost in the finals. Cheap tactics only get you so far bitches.

  • Overall from wat i see here, indonesia badminton ministry has gone, finished! see recently their men single and double..never win any title….SAD!!!!!

  • Stop your discreminating comment, you are becoming a nuisance in this place.

  • Chrischris 6 years ago

Well, you should keep in mind, that their top players — both Taufik and Kido/Setiawan are no longer part of the national team when it comes to practicing, due to Taufiks disagreement with the federation and Kido's blood pressure.

  • giantqtipz 6 years ago

geeze kido's injury has really butchered his performance. i hope he gets better, but from the looks of it he wont recover from it (i hope he does!)

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

Let me think…. errr No. I'll continue to speak my mind and say what I feel and when I want and how I want Don, and if you don't like it, too bad.

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

This Boe idiot is the most annoying stupidest looking, cheapass tactical player on the circuit. Its even starting to annoy Gillian Clark the announcer lol, she can't say how she really feels on the air but its evident. This fukin idiot should be shot. How bout that Don you like that comment? …just for you.

  • Poor Kido… he just seems to be getting worst since his injury… but o well thats only temporary

I wonder why players dont comment about Boe's practice, it's just ridiculous even Gill Clark cant stand him anymore… hope someone would put one of his overwhelmingly high flick on his face ^^

that service judge is overdoing it… bought?

  • Joshua 6 years ago

Each player has his own personality, just like us. Boe didn't delay service on purpose. The service is the most important shot and you need time, concentration and attention to deliver. European judges do like to pick asians for service fault, way back to the days of Ng Boon Bee & Tan Yee Khan. Also, can you stop using foul language when lots of viewers here are 12 or 13 year olds?

  • I agree with you! This game shows the power of the two Asians irregardless of errors, I know their heart and power show the true winning form. Next time Idol Kido, give them your revenge in a mismatch score especially the service judge over there.

  • I have to agree with you there.. Boe is not really the pinnacle of good sportsmanship. He annoys not only the audience, but he breaks the concentration of his oponents.

Boe didn't delay the service on purpose? are you on the same planet? they've been pulling that same stunt over and over against every opponent. Their opponent waits till they're settled in then approach to server then they pretend they're NOT ready then stop just to try to break the other's concentration and rythm. Then their opponents have to stop and regroup. Its cheap, and only serves to show their lack of respect for others and lack of integrity to the game. You're right about one thing we all have different personality and styles, however none of his compatriots and none of the other top professional players have to resolve to that because they have honor, respect and integrity to the game. You can bite, scratch, hit below the belt also when you fight, but the true champions NOT ONE needs to do that.

I thought I was, everyone should lighten up. The site is more vibrant now because of a little spice.

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

and as for using foul language, maybe you can try to ban porn from the internet as well as there are 12 and 13 year olds looking at that too.

  • kimchua 6 years ago

Alpha, we did use “internet nanny” but the best defence is to teach our kids the best we could. Porn only appeals to a few (but adds up to millions). There is a pro tennis player, Mark Dickson, he slowly bounces the tennis balls on average 12-14 times before he serves. Also, watch the track & field high and pole vault jumpers, they have some strange rituals before each jump and you are right, someone we are sick to wait for these guys, hence the 2 minute rule comes in. You do have some interesting points (sometimes always) and good knowledge about badminton, lots of us like to read your points of view. Let's keep this site clean and healthy. Have a good new year.

I agree. The first service fault he called was 49 for-51against and the second was definitely not a service fault (10-90). I think even for a copenhagen tournament, the service judge should be neutral like a line judge from USA.

  • kimchua 6 years ago

You mean like Mike Tyson biting one's ear off?

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

Exactly and what happend to him after he did that? no one respected him and no one respects Boe for doing that.

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

None of the people you mentioned are as annoying or agrivating as Boe, pole vault isn't vs an opponent, they do it to psych themselves up, its a poor analogy. I honestly can't believe you're defending him, unless you're only doing it as devils advocate, and if so you're not doing a very good job of convincing me or anyone else that what he's doing is honorable. He purposely does it time and time again to annoy and break the opponents concentration, its a poor tactic and doesn't help them win matches. I used to know a guy who would server on the outter perimeter of the badminton court so the serve comes in at an angle to the opponents backhand. He would get a few points per game but you know what, NO ONE respected him for that, even though technically it was a legal serve. The only thing that delay of service tactic is doing is annoying the opponent and audience. I don't know how you can possibly defend that.

I use colorful language only to get my point across, I think people here are mature and cool enough to know I never mean it personally. 🙂 its all in good fun and spice, its what has liven this forum up and made it more fun to read.

  • Alphadeck 6 years ago

Also, if netnanny can ban images i'm sure they can ban words.

  • kimchua 6 years ago

Some refs are watching the vidoes on this site too. When Boe makes Kido wait, Boe should be given a yellow card for unsportsman conduct. Its only a matter of time before he gets one. Also, there should be no “ball tempering too, as in cricket”, see how he brushes the feathers with his fingers.

  • kimchua 6 years ago

Your English is more than good enough and you have liven up this site with some of your “nutty” comments. Sometimes, its more fun having guys like you here and I am sure you can find better words like “unbelivable”, “dispicable” or “unsportsmanlike” etc. Best words in English are not the ones which start with a F and ends with a K nor they resemble the word “sufficient” which has 2 Fs and 1 C!!

  • hahaa isn't this nice to see.. you guys are finally getting along! How cute.. it's like we're all one big happy badminton family. Let's keep it that way in 2010 and have a great badminton experience in and out the court!

    Kind regards from Matty

Guys, I've restricted to 1 level threading only. Since more than that kinda look not nice.

    Thanks, keep commenting!

  • I agree. PBSI is in disarray. Most of Indonesian players are no longer top players. It's too bad. They used to dominate badminton. Well, like everything else in Indonesia, I don't expect PBSI too excel.

  • PBSI has a good player i dont know why top player like taufik hidayat vita marisa even now markis kido are out they say they want to enjoy
