It is now confirmed that Lee Chong Wei had failed a dope test during the recent World Championship 2014 in Denmark. Chong Wei’s urine has been found to have traces of the banned substance dexamethasone which is not a performance-enhancing drug but a type of steroid medication with anti-inflammatory effects that is usually used to aid an athlete’s rehabilitation.

Chong Wei’s urine was taken after his semi final match against Viktor Axelsen which he won easily in 2 straight games. This is the first sample result which was taken and definitely Chong Wei will be challenging this to clear his name. The sample B results will be known on Wednesday 5th Novemben 2014 in Norway, Oslo. Keep your fingers crossed.
