After prolong delays on Lee Chong Wei’s doping case, there will be no more extension to the date for the hearing of world No. 2 Lee Chong Wei’s case.
According to Datuk Norza Zakaria (BAM deputy president), Badminton World Federation (BWF) have set the first week of February to hear Chong Wei’s doping case.
Chong Wei was tested positive for dexamethasone during the World Championships at Copenhagen last August and is currently suspended.
Chong Wei’s lawyer Mike Morgan of England had requested for an extension as he needed more time as BWF had earlier set Dec 8 as the hearing date.
Keeping their fingers crossed, BAM hope BWF will confirm the date and all will end well for Lee Chong Wei.
If found guilty, Chong Wei could face a two year ban and this will surely end his Olympic dream in Rio 2016. If he is found innocent during mitigation, there is a chance that he could be given a reduced sentence or even escape with a slap on the wrist.
