Lee Chong Wei showed why he is still the best player at the moment when he defeated Chen Long of China in straight games, 21-13, 21-17 in 55 minutes much to the delight of the Indian crowd.
With the win yesterday, Chong Wei has a 9-8 winning stats against the Chinese ace.
This is Chong Wei’s 3rd Super Series title of the year as his earlier wins was at the Malaysian Open and also the All England.
In yesterday’s match, Chong Wei started well by taking a 7-1 lead before Chen Long got into his stride. It was much closer in the second set but Chong Wei put up some perfect drop shots to outfox his younger opponent.
Chong Wei’s next assignement will be at the Singapore Open starting this Wednesday. Chong Wei will be gunning for another title with Chen Long giving a miss for the Singapore Open. Kenichi Tago and Du Pengyu will be Chong Wei’s closest rivals.
