Good news for badminton freaks out there! Lee Chong Wei has decided to continue to play badminton until the 2016 Rio Olympics.
As we know, Chong Wei has been contemplating to retire by the end of the year stating he wanted to spend more time with his family.
There is a few factors that made up on his recent decision to play till the 2016 Rio Olympics :-
- Advice from Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin
- Chong Wei is still winning tournaments
- No other shuttler ready to take over his position
According to Chong Wei, he will concentrate on the major tournaments this year such as the Thomas Cup Finals, Commonwealth Games, World Championship and Asian Games.
Chong Wei’s recent run of victories over Chen Long also helped his decision to pursue his dreams of winning more major tournaments. So badminton freaks, sit back and enjoy Chong Wei’s presence in court for another 2 years!
