Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand took on Park Sung Hwan of Korea in the semi finals of the Aviva Singapore Open 2009 badminton tournament.

Boonsak is a crowd favorite in Singapore as he has won the title here before. Sung Hwan is not a pushover as on his day he can give any top players in the world a run for their money.

The second women doubles of the Aviva Singapore Open 2009 women doubles semi finals is between Lena Frier Kristiansen & Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark against Nitya Krishinda Maheswari & Greysia Polii of Indonesia.

To be honest, i thought Lena Frier Kristiansen & Kamilla Rytter Juhl would have an easy time against the Indonesian. Rytter Juhl has one of the hardest smashes in the women game and we shall see more of the Indonesian pairing in the future. I bet ya..

Nonetheless a great battle by both sets of ladies.

Nathan Robertson & Anthony Clark took Chen Hung Ling & Lin Yu Lang of Taiwan in the Aviva Singapore Open 2009 men doubles semi finals badminton match.

Both pairs have upset higher ranked pairs. The English pair upset Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong in round 2 while the Taiwanese pair defeated Mathias Boe & Carsten Mogensen.

To be honest i really don’t know much about the Taiwanese pairing as they haven’t reached the semi finals of the Super Series event. One of their players is noted for fair play. I think the guy with the specs. Quite rare we see in an international event such as badminton, a player wears a specs.
