markis-hendra

Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan made their comeback in the badminton arena by clinching the Badminton Asia Championship 2009 against South Korean Ko Sung Hyun & Yoo Yeon Seong.

The Korean pairing will be a pair to watch in the future as they really gave the Indonesia a run for their money in the Badminton Asia Championship men doubles finals. In the end, experience prevailed for the Indonesians.

To cimuth : The koreans almost nick the 2nd set after coming back from 14-20 down. Almost…

  • Markis is what you called “pocket Hercules”. There were a few in badminton before him and no, Napoleon is not one of them . Malaysia’s Ng Boon Bee and Japan’s Ipei Kojima. I don’t know how “tall” is Kido, may be 4 foot eleven? just kidding, he is 1.65M or 5 foot 4.

To Kim : You sure he’s that short? Like that i am taller then him? ^^ Seriously, Kido and Setiawan really improved a lot. Lastime when i see them play, they really get pawn by the other doubles pair. Not anymore… ^^

  • Dubious line calls, the koreans are not professional about fairness. Maybe should boycott the korean competitions in the future, because they give a bad impression of badminton. It is so unlike table-tennis where the we can see many honest players willingly give the opponents the points when they deserve. This is what I call sportsmanship.

  • Yes Jason, Kido is only 5’4″, LYD’s partner JJ Sung is an inch taller at 5’5″, Taufik is about 5’6″ and Hafiz, your favourite badminton player (just kidding) is 6’1″!! I guess Jason you are 5’6″. I am 5’7″. Ipei and Boon Bee is about 5’3″.

  • My humble apology to Datuk Eddy Choong, he’s only 1.57M or 5′ 2″ (yes, 5 foot 2) but he stood tall on the badminton court. In fact, he is a giant, having won All-England singles 4 times in 1953,54, 56 and 57 and doubles in 1951 and 53.
