   it can be seen that LD is the best one on the world both technique and strategy. in fact, LCW has just stepped up to the no.1 not too long. and another is that he just win the super series tournaments, not any big tournaments like all england or world championships, while LD has all. this proves that LCW has not reached to professional class yet. i myself admire LCW very much, however, his psychology is quite weak when he meets LD. that's why he can not defeat LD.

   LCW IS professional, he's probably the next best singles player after LD. You can totally tell that LD was hauling ass as hard as he could because it's THE most important event and that most of the crowd was chanting his name. The atmosphere and home advantage cannot be disregarded. Just imagine yourself in that situation, you probably wouldn't be able to hold yourself up let alone play for gold medal at the Olympics.

    thanks jason for uploading! great game! destroy your opponent when you have the chance, don't let them come back! poor commentary though, no words on technique and strategy, boring tune. if not for the crowds and hitting sound, i would've muted it.

    I personally think that home crowd can be a benefit but equally it can also be a detriment. When you play in front of your home crowd and its a huge event like the olympic gold medal , very few athletes can withstand that kind of intense pressure. When you're expected to win like Lin Dan was , there is no room for even a silver medal. I think Lin's loss at the previous olympics was the catalist for his success here. People say that you have to lose before you can win. Many athletes will break after a big loss but the very few who grow from their loss will no doubt find success in the future

    Professional class? You're talking about the top 2 players in the world of course they're BOTH professional. I agree Lin Dan was far better here but make no mistake they are both pro's, in their own right. Maybe he did not defeat him here but he has proved that he can defeat him. Super series events are also major events, it's not because he hasn't won the All England or World Championships that it makes him any less of an athlete than Lin Dan.

    If you only judge a player by his tournament victories than I'd say you aren't judging them well. It depends also on who you're seeded against.

    Lee Chong Wei simply is number 1 ranked because he plays more often, and defeats more oponents than Lin Dan, however when Lin Dan decides to join a tournament he (usually) gets pretty far.

    Nice one Jason great upload, definitely one of the greatest matches ever. It really was a masterclass by Lin Dan, albeit Lee was off his usual game. But you have to give a massive amount of credit to Lin because as other people have said, he was clearly under a massive amount of pressure. I mean not only was it in the most coveted badminton tournament, being in his home country, playing against the next best player in the world and considering this is one of the most important medals to the Chinese public; it was possibly the biggest match he will ever play so you have to admire Lin Dan's character.

    OK it wasn't the most competitive or exciting match but in terms of quality of badminton, it was unparalleled. To sum it up using the old cliche, if you don't like this match you don't like badminton.

    There has always been alot of debate over the word
    “professional.” when it comes to peoples vocations. Imho a profesional is someone who makes a living off his or her trade. Whether they make alot of money or win alot of tournaments is another matter. There are of course pro-amateur players who also have a regular job to support their moonlighting in badminton but I think every single player who's singular job is to train 6 days a week for world tournies is a “professional.” It's like photographers.. from the wealthy famous few, to the ones who take your daughters portrait for Christmas at the mall to the one who takes artsy photos for a gallery…they're all professional. Heck, even those paparrazi photogs are professional even though many of them take horrible photos. LOL.

    Lin Dan's racquet isn't customized. It's just plain ol' at700. He even said so himself. He also (for you critics) said that he felt no difference between the old and new at700 (and he doesnt care) the only thing weird is his grip (lol i have the grip done the same way as him- he did mine) he says he likes it like that (half grip)
